The inputs m, Fw, g, μ, and θ need no introduction. When entering the mass or weight, you only need to enter one of them and the other will be |
calculated. Fapp is the applied force and the default inputs are displayed by pressing Play with no inputs. |
|
The output values are displayed in the animation area when pressing Pause. You may press Pause a maximum of three times to display three |
sets of velocity and time values. After three times, you may still pause the animation but the output values will not be updated.. |
|
The values must be entered before pressing Play. Any values left blank will default to the same values each time. |

1) A 20.0 kg crate is resting on a horizontal surface and the coefficient of friction has been found to be 0.17. A force of 100. N is available to |
either push or pull the crate. Discuss the differences that exist for each of the following angles: |
(a) 40° |
(b) 0° |
(c) -40° |
|
2) A 25.0 kg mass is pushed by a force of 110. N on a horizontal surface. If the coefficient of friction is 0.30, determine the: |
(a) acceleration of the mass |
(b) frictional force |
|
3) A block with a mass of 15.0 kg is pulled to the right with a force of 50.0 N by a rope making an angle of 30° with the horizontal. What are the |
values of Fh, Fv, Fn, Ff, and Fnet? |
|
4) A crate with a mass of 35.0 kg is pushed with a force of 185 N. The direction of the force makes an angle of 25° below the horizontal. |
If μ = 0.26, determine the net force acting on the crate. |
